The Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in your home. It’s also one of the rooms that will need the most attention during your spring cleaning campaign. The best method for deep cleaning your kitchen is to break it into categories and  start cleaning from the inside out.

Start With Appliances

If you start by cleaning your floors and countertops you’ll find yourself messing them back up again as you move forward. Instead, clean from the inside out. Start by discarding the old food in your pantry, freezer, and your fridge then move on to your appliances.

  • Clean out the refrigerator.
  • Clean out the freezer.
  • Defrost the freezer.
  • Wipe out the drawers and shelves in your refrigerator and freezer.
  • Clean the seals on the fridge and the freezer.
  • Clean the oven.
  • Clean the microwave.
  • Clean the dishwasher.

Clean Your Cabinets and Drawers

Next, clean out your cabinets. Taking it one cabinet at a time, remove everything from the shelves,  thoroughly clean the inside, then replace the items. Do the same for your kitchen drawers. If you have drawer organizers, take them out and wash them with soap and water.

Wipe Down All Surfaces

After you’ve cleaned everything on the inside, it’s time to spruce up the outside. Start by clearing off your countertops.

  • Dust off the tops of high surfaces such as the top of the fridge, range hood, and tops of cabinets.
  • Degrease your cabinet doors and your backsplash.
  • Deodorize and degrease the kitchen drain.
  • Wipe down walls and countertops
